Easy Hummus – 3 ways

Who doesn’t love a creamy dip? Perfect for breakfast, an appetizer before lunch, or a simple light dinner.

Over the years, I’ve realised that making my own hummus is way more fun—because it lets me get creative. The best part? You can tweak the recipe endlessly to suit your taste buds. Too bland? A splash of extra lemon juice fixes that. Want it creamier? Drizzle in more olive oil. Feeling a little spicy today? A pinch of paprika does the trick.

For the base – Ingredients:

Recipie for 4

  • Drained can of chickpeas (around 400g)
  • 1/2 lemon’s juice
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 1tbs tahini (sesame paste)
  • salt & pepper to taste

Put everything in a blender, but don’t start blend yet!

Next, choose your flavour…

Add the rest of the ingredients to the blender, based on the falvour you want:

Sundired tomatoe hummus

Base +

  • 4-5 pieces of sundried tomatoes
  • 1 tsp of dried basil
  • 1 tsp of dried marjoram
  • 1 medium garlic clove

Sweet potato/pumpkin

Base +

  • 200g of oven roasted sweet potato/pumpkin
  • a pinch of trumeric powder
  • 1 tsp of curry

Beetroot

Base +

  • 200g oven roasted beetroot
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

Blend everything together until smooth.

To bake the sweet potato, pumpkin and the beetrrot (applies to all three of them): First peal the veggies, then cut them into equal sized cubes (they cook faster this way). Put the cut veggie son the baking tray and into the oven at 200C for 25-30 minutes. Option: you can drizzle a little olive oil.
